Volleyball: Tigers go 1-3 in Rochester tourney

Katie Habeck

Farmington won one of four matches at the Rochester Century tournament played Saturday, Oct. 2 in Rochester.
The Tigers lost back-to-back 2-0 decisions to host Century and White Bear Lake, defeated Blooming Prairie 2-0 and then lost to Mankato East 2-1 in their final match.
"We played very well considering it was homecoming week," coach Mike Woody said. "We lost a close one to Century and White Bear Lake played well all day. We beat a good Blooming Prairie team in our third match but ran out of gas at the end against East."
The 1-3 run left the Tigers with a season mark of 7-12. They are 2-2 in Missota Conference play.
In the win over Blooming Prairie, several Tigers made major contributions.
Leading the way was Katie Habeck who accounted for nine of her team's 16 kills and also chimed in with a dozen service receptions and five digs.
Brook King led in serve receptions with 14 and matched Habeck's total of five digs. Mia Johnston and Andrea Smith split the setting duties, finishing with 18 and 13 respectively. Bekah Lippert had a team-best five blocks.
Despite the losing effort at the tournemant, Woody remained optimistic about his young team's possibilities as it winds down the conference season and prepares for post-season play.

"I still feel the gtirls are right on the brink," he said.
