Boys Soccer: Sabers shutout Tigers 4-0

Shakopee (9-4-1) scored twice in each half to defeat Farmington 4-0 Tuesday, Oct. 4, at Vaughan Field in Shakopee.
The loss was the sixth straight for the Tigers who have scored just four goals during the losing skid. The defeat dropped the Tigers season record to 4-9; 1-3 against Missota Conference competition.
Tiger coach Julian Buss said the story of the game was a familiar one.
"I don't mean to be repeating myself but we have to do a better job of finishing off our scoring opportunities," he said. "We are playing some very good teams and because of how we play, we won't always get as many chances as the other team.
"Our margin for error isn't as large as some teams. I always feel if we can hold the other team to three goals or less we have a chance to win."
Buss doesn't always have a manager for road games and said he didn't have save numbers for goaltender Chad Stivers. Whatever the numbers, the junior netminder was clearly on his game.
Stivers made save after save to keep his team in the contest.
"Chad wasn't even a goalie last year," Buss said. "He has been very solid for us, not just tonight but in almost every game. He's calm and he reacts well. He has great instincts and vision."
