Boys X-Country: Tigers seventh at New Prague

Matt Anderson turned in the top Tiger finish at New Prague
The Tigers rested their top five runners in preparation for Saturday's Roy Griak Invitational mega-meet but the replacements ran well, helping Farmington to a seventh place finish in the 12-team New Prague Invitational held Tuesday at Cedar Lake Farms..

Faribault edged Red Wing  32-41 for the team title. New Prague took third with 122 points followed by Tri-City United 124, Jordan 134, Norwood-Young America 161, Farmington 223, Mankato Loyola/Cleveland 225, Cannon Falls 245, LeSueuer-Henderson 246 and St. Peter 283.

Matt Anderson, a Tiger regular all season, led Farmington with 35th place finish, covering the 5000-meter route in 19:03.

Derek Cole was 39tth in 19:22; Peyton Woller 45th in 19:36; Josh Grimm 47th in 19:59; Jackson Schneider 57th in 20:44; Trent Kortenbusch 59th in 20:52 and Ryan Newton 62nd in 21:58.

"The meet went well," coach Lisa Lippold said. "It was a great experience for five of the seven runners to be able to run in a varsity race. Even though we just had a meet on Saturday we still had some pr's. Derek Cole dropped 15 seconds from his time."

The five Tigers runners not competing at New Prague didn't completely get the day off. They made the trip to Cedar Lake Farms to get a peek at the new site for the Missota Conference Championships slated for October 15.

After Saturday's first appearance at the prestigious Griak meet at the University of Minnesota's Les Bolstad Golf Course on Saturday, the Tigers travel to Chaska next Tuesday for the Chaska Invitational.
