Girls Tennis: Tigers suffer Storm damage

Lindsey Fairchild
Farmington had played competitive all season but it ran into a brick wall at Chanhassen Thursday afternoon with the Storm dominating in a 7-0 Missota Conference win.

All seven of the Chanhassen wins were of the straight sets variety and left a strong impression on Tiger coach Jack Olwell.

"They only lost to perennial section champ Rochester Mayo 4-3, so it turns out they are pretty good," he said. "They were a superior team but the points and games were well contested.

Beth Fairchild
"I suppose it was the tennis version of the Alamo. We lost but in heroic fashion with all our players playing at a high level and not yielding. The scores don't always tell the whole story."

The best match of the day came at first doubles where the Tiger duo of Beth and Lindsey Fairchild fell for just the second time in 15 matches this season, 5-7 and 4-6.
