Girls X-Country: Peterson back in front of Tiger pack

Seventh-grader Anna Palodichuk was the fourth Farmington runner at  Lakeville
Seventh-grader Lauren Peterson and senior Maricia Pacheco continued their season-long battle for the team's lead runner position at Friday's Applejack Invitational at Lakeville's Aronson Park.

Peterson finished 20th overall in a field of 166 runners, finishing the 4000-meter course in 15:12.7 to lead the Farmington effort. Pacheco, who took team honors last week at Faribault, placed 60th in 16:01.3.

"Lauren had an amazing race with her best time of the year," coach Heidi Revels said. "We dropped our place from last year but we definitely missed Maricella Pacheco who has been one of our top five runners. Thankfully it is early in the season and we have time to get healthy and pull together as a team."

East Ridge won the meet with 72 team points, 20 fewer than runner-up Egan whose Anna Van Wyk won the individual in 14:26.7.

Edina placed third in the team standings at 107, followed by Lakeville South 114, Monticello 160, Forest Lake 181, Prior Lake 217, Rosemount 236, Minnetonka 236, Lakeville South 240, Luverne 307, Shakopee 340, Farmington 359, Andover 365, Centennial 367, Woodbury 416, Math and Science Academy 503, Rogers 512 add Bloomington Kennedy 540.
