Girls Tennis: Cougars claw Tigers 6-1

Jessie Novotny
The Fairchild twins, Beth and Lindsey, extended their season-long winning streak to 11 matches and Jessie Novotny put up a good fight at third singles, but other than that it was a long day at the office for the Tigers in a 6-1 loss at Lakeville South Monday afternoon.

"We were never really in the hunt," coach Jack Olwell said. "I'm not sure why. The match-ups seemed good...They did not outhit us but they outlasted us on a very hot and windy day. South handled the  conditions better."

The Fairchilds won with ease, 6-2, 6-1 at first doubles.

They are monsters for their opponents," Olwell said.

Novotny played competitively against a quality opponent in a 4-6, 3-6 loss.

'This was an outstanding match," Olwell said. "Even though she didn't win, Jessie was impressive with her all-court play."
