Chaska made a halftime formation adjustment and the the ploy paid dividends in a 3-2 Missota Conference win over the Tigers Tuesday, Oct. 4, in Chaska.
Farmington hit the halftime break holding a 2-0 lead after a dominant first half performance.
Robin DeCastro celebrated his return to the lineup with the first Tiger goal, a header off a pass from Jared Wolt. Brandon Scott notched the second on an assist from DeCastro.
"That's the first time Robin has been on the field since the Shakopee game," coach Julian Buss said. "It was good to see him back at his midfielder's position."
Chaska switched its formation and tactics after intermission and Buss said his team was slow to react.
"They scored a goal early and that set the tone for the second half," he said. "The second goal put us back on our heels and the third one was hard to endure."
The loss dropped Farmington to 3-2-1 in conference play and 7-6-2 overall. After a torrid 7-2-1 start, the Tigers have gone 0-4-1 in their last five outings..
They hope to close the regular season on a positive note Thursday when they entertain league newcomer New Prague at Tiger Stadium. The Trojans, in their first season playing varsity hockey, have yet to win a game this season.
Section 1AA play begins Thursday, October 13, with an opponent and location determined by a seeding process.
