Farmington's hopes to build on last week's win over Northfield were dashed early Thursday night in Chaska as the Hawks rolled to a 25-11, 25-14, 25-14 Missota Conference victory.
The loss dropped the Tigers to 1-6 in Missota Conference play and 7-18 for the season. Chaska is 11-8 overall and 4-2 in league play.
"I don’t like to make excuses, but the virus that went around school hit all but two of my 19 girls," coach Mike Woody said. "We really did not prepare like we normally would, and then we also played poorly to boot."
A look at the game statistics reveals the Tigers' struggles. Offensively, the they managed just 15 team kills with Laura Steege leading with five. Farmington totaled a mere nine set assists with Mia Johnston accounting for seven.
The defense had a busy night with Emma Fahning coming up with 19 of her team's 31 digs. Fahning also led in serve receptions with 15, three more than teammates Rachel Eckert and Adrienne Jolicoeur. Bekah Lippert recorded a team-high four blocks.
"Emma has really started to shine on the court." Woody said.
The Tigers will bring down the curtain on their regular season with a Missota Conference match with New Prague, Tuesday, Oct. 18, at Tiger Gym. Section 1AAA play begins Wednesday, October 26.
