Girls Hockey: Lightning strike Tigers 2-0 in Schmitz Classic opener

Despite 32 shots on net, Farmington fell in the opening round of the Louis Schmitz Holiday Classic, 2-0, to Eastview Tuesday night at Schmitz-Maki Arena.
The Lightning (6-6-1) received goals from Taylor Tvedt and Erika Geary in the win. Courtney Companion earned the shutout for Eastview

The Tigers (4-8-0) continue to receive solid play between the pipes from Jessica Erchul. The senior goaltender stopped 37 shots and now sports a 2.44 goals against average and a 93.3% save percentage.

In other tournament action, Rosemount beat Sartell/Sauk Rapids in the opening game, Apple Valley knocked off Hastings and Lakeville North squeaked by Park of Cottage Grove.

Farmington will take on Park of Cottage in the second consolation semifinal today at 3 p.m. at Schmitz-Maki Arena.
