Betsy Anderson scored twice and Jessica Erchul made 23 saves as Farmington rolled over section 1AA opponent Owatonna 3-0 Thursday at Schmitz-Maki Arena.

The Tigers (4-7-0) scored three goals in a game for the first time this season. Grace Gavin also scored for Farmington.

The Huskies (5-5-0) finished 0-for-6 on the power play.

“We played solid on the penalty kill and did not give up any good chances,” Farmington head coach Jon Holmes said. “They got plenty of shots toward the net on their power plays but we kept them from the outside for the most part.”

Gavin’s goal and Anderson’s first were both on the power play for Farmington. The Tigers finished 2-for-6 with the player advantage.

“When we did score and when we did have some good opportunities it seemed to come off of faceoffs,” Holmes said. “We put some good time in this week on organizing ourselves on faceoffs and it was extremely rewarding to see their efforts hit pay day.“

Farmington will host its annual Christmas tournament, the Louis Schmitz Holiday Classic, Dec. 27-Dec. 29. The Tigers will open with Eastview on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

“We will be facing off against some top teams in the metro and state,” Holmes said. “We will need to be ready to play from the first drop of the puck until the last buzzer.”
