Girls Hockey: Park ekes out 3-2 win

Park of Cottage Grove scored two unanswered third period goals and beat Farmington, 3-2, Wednesday in the Louis Schmitz Holiday Classic consolation semifinals at Schmitz-Maki Arena.

The two teams traded first period goals. The Wolfpack (8-6-0) took the lead on a goal from Mary Turitto. The Tigers (4-9-0) answered on Grace Gavin’s power play tally.

After a scoreless second period, Haleigh Zwart gave Farmington the lead at the 11:14 mark of the third. Haley Doll added an assist and leads the team with seven points. Park would add goals from Caitlin Quinn and Madison Nelson to take the lead and cap the scoring.

Jessica Erchul stopped 40 shots for the Tigers and Allie Morse stopped 24 for the Wolfpack.

Farmington will now face Hastings at 1 p.m. at Schmitz-Maki Arena in the seventh place game. Earlier this season, the Raiders beat the Tigers 3-2 in Hastings. Lakeville North will take on Rosemount for the tournament championship at 7 p.m.
