Jake Baskerville collected four hits and Jonathan Ellis pitched 6.3 innings of four-hit ball as the Tigers defeated Northfield 7-2 in a Missota Conference match-up in Northfield on Thursday, May 5.
The win was the second straight for the Farmington nine who upset Holy Angels 10-6 on Tuesday.
"We've been putting the ball in play and swinging the bats early in the count," Tiger coach Mike Winters said. "Our pitchers have been throwing strikes and the defense has been keeping the errors to the minimum."
The visitors broke up a scoreless game with a three-run third inning. Baskerville, Spencer Merle and Tommy Korbein each had singles and Nathan Graham rapped a rbi double in the rally.
The Tigers scored their other four runs in the fourth frame on three hits and a pair of walks. Baskerville had another single in the uprising and Zak Payne and Zach Wallace each contributed two-run hits, both with two out.
Ellis struck out eight and walked two in posting his second win of the season. Colton Luskey came on with one out in the seventh after the Raiders scored their only two runs and retired the only two batters he faced.
The win upped the Farmington season record to 3-8.
