Ben Cline 6-4, 6-4 winner at No. 1 singles
Farmington split the four singles matches but Holy Angels swept the doubles competition in a a 5-2 loss to the Stars Tuesday afternoon, May 2, on the Boeckman Middle School courts.
"In the two flights we won, we played well," Tiger coach Jack Olwell said, "but we only played so-so at the other spots. Holy Angels was particularly strong at doubles."
The Tiger points came from Ben Cline and Tyler Olsen at the first and fourth singles positions.
Cline won 6-4, 6-4, sweeping the final games in both sets to post the victory in what Olwell termed "a much more intense match than usual."
Olsen's win at the fourth spot went three sets. He lost the opener 3-6 before rallying to win the final two 6-2 and 6-4.
"He won in typical Tyler fashion," Olwell said, "deciding on an effective strategy and then implementing it well enough to take control of the match."
