Erik Holmstrom 2nd overall |
Holmstrom's best round of the belated spring season consisted of a steady 16 pars and two bogies, an effort coach Jon Holmes playfully called "boring."
"In golf you want your day to be boring," Holmes explained. "Erik would like to have had a few birdies, but it was a very solid round and if anyone can limit their round to two bogies they ought to have some success."
Jake Jensen also came up with a season-low round of 80 to finish second on the Farmington leader board.
"If we can keep Jake around that number this year, which he is fully capable of, we should have some team success with our other players not yet scoring to what they know they are also capable," Holmes said.
Nate Anderson finished at 84, Jake Trippel 85, Garrett Heidelberger 86 and Grant Hauswirth 87 to complete the Farmington scoring.
As a team Farmington ranked fifth in the talent-rich tournament won by Lakeville South with a low total of 296 strokes. Eagan was a distant second at 308, followed by Lakeville North 311, Red Wing 316, Farmington 322, Rosemount 357 and Bloomington Kennedy 370.
