Jake Trippel team-low round of 82 |
But when all the scores had been tallied and the standings posted, Holmes said he liked what his team had accomplished, namely a fifth place finish.
Chanhassen led the field with a team total of 287 strokes. New Prague finished a distant second at 314, followed by Shakopee 315, Chaska 327, Farmington 336, Red Wing 343, Holy Angels 348 and Northfield 354
"We knew the top four in our conference were golfing powerhouses," Holmes said, "so the five spot was a goal of ours to attain and we managed to grab it on day one."
Sophomore Jake Trippel topped the Farmington leader board with a round of 82 (41-41). Freshman Erik Holmstrom, the lone varsity regular returning from last year's squad, finished a stroke back at 83.
Senior Nate Anderson checked in at 84, followed by freshman Jake Jensen 87, senior Garrett Heidelberger 91, and senior Grant Hauswirth 97.
"For the most part our entire roster played pretty well," Holmes said. "What is even more promising is that each of them certainly left a few shots out there and we have room to get better in both the short and long term."
