Jake Bauman's goal shortly after the opening face-off of the sudden-death overtime period provided the final margin of victory.
The final outcome was much closer than the play through most of the contest with Farmington holding on after building a seemingly comfortable 10-2 cushion.
"These are the types of games that keep you up at night," coach Paul Sorensen said. "We were outplaying them badly, beating them to ground balls, settling the ball down and converting on quality shots.
"Then we got the penalty bug and gave up five man-down goals down the stretch and let them back in. You simply can't give quality teams like Holy Angels any room to breathe."
Nine players scored at least a point for the Tigers and eight different players recorded goals led by Bauman who finished with three.

Berg, Rudrud and Hilton each handed out two assists; Fitzgibbons and Caleb Hakala each had one.
"We are now becoming more comfortable as an offensive unit," Sorensen said. "More guys are settling into roles and producing great minutes."
Matt Heinzerling posted his firts win of the season in goal, stopping 11 of 21 shots.
Weather permitting, the Tigers will look to make it three in a row Thursday night when they take on Chaska/Chanhassen at Chanhassen.
