Boys Lacrosse: Keeping Tech in check

It was all Farmington all of the time Monday night in a one-sided 14-1 win over St. Cloud Tech at Tiger Stadium.

Eight different players scored for the winners who waltzed to their third win a row while upping their season record to 6-4.

The Tigers roared to seven unanswered goals in the opening period and by intermission were sitting on a comfortable 10-0 cushion.

Tech scored its only goal of the night in the third period but the home team netted a pair of goals in each of the final two frames to win going away.

Corey Rudrud had three goals and two assists and Brendan Berg netted three goals and recorded an assist to lead the Farmington scoring. Garrett Gunderson registered two goals and an assist and Alex Schraff also scored twice.

Dan Block, Mitch Hilton, Ryan Cole and Caleb Hakala each scored a goal. Chris Fitzgibbons had a pair of assists and Hilton, Block, Michael Thompson and Alex Kelly each recorded one.

Matt Heinzerling worked the Tigers nets for 44 minutes and allowed one goal while picking up seven saves; Kyle Kratz minded the store for the final four minutes of action.

The Tigers hit the road Tuesday for a game at section rival Rochester Mayo and then close out their regular season with road games at St. Cloud Tech and Simley on Thursday and Friday. Section 1 post-season play begins next week.
