Darren Beenken
17 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals
Farmington spotted Prescott the first five points of the game but after that had little trouble handling the Cardinals in a 74-53 non-conference win Tuesday, Jan. 11, at Tiger Gym.
The Tigers overcame their early deficit to take a 41-25 lead to the halftime break.
"Overall it was a pretty sloppy game but we made enough plays to get it done," Farmington coach Shane Wyandt said. "If there is ever such a thing as a sloppy 20-point win, I guess this was it."
Thirteen players saw action for the winners who raised their season record to five wins and six losses heading into Friday night's Missota Conference opener with Shakopee at Tiger Gym.
Four Tigers cracked double figures in the contest led by Darren Beenken's 17 points. Alex Michels added a dozen, Zach Wallace 11 and Andy Born 10.
Farmington shot 44 percent from the field and owned a three-rebound edge(38-35) led by Michels season-high total of 17. Josh Ruthenbeck also hit double digits in rebounding with 10.
Michels added five steals and a trio of blocked shots to his all-around game. Wallace dished out five assists and Beenken came up with three steals.
Wyandt said that his team will have to bring its "A" game to Tiger Gym on Friday if it is going too stay with perennial Missota Conference power Shakopee.
"The boys know they are going to have to play a lot better than they did tonight if we are going to have a chance to win." he said.
