Zach Holton
1st in 200 medley relay; 2nd in 100 butterfly; 3rd in 200 individual medley
The Tigers scored four first place finishes but that wasn't nearly enough in a 92-89 Missota Conference dual meet loss Thursday, Jan. 6, at Red Wing.
Despite his team's third loss in four tries in dual meet competition, coach Ryan Hamen remained upbeat about his team's performance.
"The boys swam very well," Hamen said. "Most dropped their season best times while many achieved their personal bests."
Allen Berg accounted for half of the Farmington first place finishes, winning the 200 and 500 freestyle races.
Tyler Magalis established a personal best score in winning the one-meter diving competition with 242.80 points and the 200 medley relay foursome of Brian Huls, Loren Hatten, Zach Holton and Magalis started the meet on the right track with victory.
Huls also notched a pair of seconds in the 50 and 100 freestyle races. Hatten took second in the 100 breaststroke and Holton finished runner-up in the 100 butterfly.
Four Farmington entrants scored third place points: Evan Carufel on the one-meter board; Christopher Kirchmann in the 200 freestyle; Matthew Stephan in the 100 breaststroke and Holton in the 200 individual medley.
Hamen also applauded the efforts of Conner Kealy, Alex Garofalo and Eric Schimmel and noted the significant time drops of Spencer Kabran, Robin Decatsro and Aaron Cochnauer.
The Tigers return to the pool Thursday, Jan. 13 when they travel to Shakopee for a conference dual meet with the Sabers.
