Terra Klima: broke own school mark on uneven bars
The Tigers lost a 149.675-142.70 dual meet decision to defending Class AA state champion Northfield Tuesday, Jan. 11, at the District Service Center, but they re-wrote the school scoring record book in the process.
The 142.70 team score eclipsed the old mark of 141.275 set in a dual meet with New Prague last season.
"It was an exciting meet," Tiger coach Lynn Baumann said. "The girls had outstanding performances and the crowd was on the edge of their seats with all of the talent in the gym.
"We broke two records and tied another. We were on fire. A little more polishing and I believe we can go higher as a team."
Terra Klima surpassed her own standard on the uneven bars with a mark of 9.575, good enough for second place and Nadia Lorencz tied Baumann's own school record in tying for first in vaulting with a 9.45 effort.
Kylie Wharton (9.325) took third in floor exercise and Jade Elm (9.125) ranked fifth on the balance beam.
Two Farmington gymnasts placed in the all-around competition. Kiana Lord was fourth with 35.775 points and Wharton took fifth with 35.275.
Saturday, the Tigers host their annual invitational meet at the District Service Center.
"We have a few new skills to add for that," Bauman said. "It will be a lot of fun. The theme this year 's 'Jungle'."
