The Tigers closed out their regular season schedule last week with back-to-back 5-1 losses to Red Wing and Rosemount. The defeats left Farmington with a final record of 7-16-2.

Thursday at Schmitz-Maki Arena the visiting Wingers scored once in the first period and twice more in the second to build a 3-0 advantage.

Ryan Schoening gave the home team life with an unassisted goal 6:17 into the final period but the visitors responded with two lightning quick scores in the next 41 seconds to put the game away.

Red Wing outshot Farmington 33-24 in the contest with Tiger netminder Victor Simones finishing with 28 saves.

Saturday's matinee at Rosemount followed much the same story line when after a scoreless first period the Irish struck for two quick scores in the second to take a lead they would never surrender.

Blake Weinand's sixth goal of the season (from Jack Buss and Jake Eldred) cut the deficit to 2-1 but Rosemount countered with a score late in the period and two more in the third to seal the victory.

Simones had another busy night between the pipes with 31 more saves. The Irish outshot the Tigers 36-36, including an 18-9 edge in the pivotal second period.

Farmington received the seventh seed for the Section 1AA tournament and will open post-season play Thursday night against second-seeded Lakeville North at Ames Arena in Lakeville. Face-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
