Northfield used its big size advantage on the front line to defeat the Tigers 47-44 in a Missota Conference game Friday night in Northfield.

The Raider front court scored 37 of its team's 47 points and had the Tigers battling foul trouble the entire game.

"We had three players foul out and they (Northfield) made 28 of 37 free throws," Tiger coach Sondra Chadwick said. "They are very tall and we had trouble controlling them in the paint."

The Raiders led 27-22 at intermission and although the Tigers came back to to take a 32-31 lead with 7:22 remaining, they could never quite contend with Northfield's size advantage.

The outcome overshadowed a strong performance by the Tiger starting back court of freshman Sofia Chadwick and senior Isis Alexander who combined for 32 points. Chadwick netted 18 for the second straight game and Alexander finished with 14.

The Raiders held Farmington's all-conference forward Taylor Meyer to a season-low six points and six rebounds. Allie Rice led the Tiger effort on the glass with nine rebounds off the bench.

The Tigers also had a sub-par night shooting the ball, connecting on just 13 of 54 tries for 24 percent.

"Even with the foul trouble and the cold shooting this shows that we are competitive," Chadwick said. "We'll be focusing on executing as we gear up for our final two conference games and the section tournament."

The Tigers close out their regular season next week with a Tuesday night home game with Chaska and a Friday night road encounter at New Prague.
