Farmington hosted some of the best teams in the metro area at its annual invitational meet Tuesday afternoon at Tiger Stadium.

Rosemount edged cross-district rival Eagan 156-155.3 for the team title. Woodbury ranked third at 127, followed by three Missota Conference schools. Red Wing scored 41 points, New Prague 40.33 and Farmington 34.33.

"We had a lot of great things happen in this meet," coach Brian Helmstetter said. "The expectations were to compete with the conference schools at the meet. This was an impressive meet with some of the state's best teams on our track in Eagan, Rosemount, and Woodbury."

The Tiger 4x800 meter relay team of Chad Retterath, Trevor Breezley, Eric Stoeckman and Tyler Lerbakken started the meet well for the locals with a third place finish in 8:35.73.

Freshman distance runner Justin Hyytinen continued to impress, placing third in the 3200-meter run in 10:09.8.

Jumper Justin Hett took fourth in both the triple jump and high jump and Reid Taubenheim was fourth in the pole vault.

The 4x400 relay quartet of Alex Chadwick, Josh Baker, Tommy Weigel and Lerbakken also scored fourth place points.

Lerbakken finished fifth in the 400-meter dash and four Tigers earned a point for placing sixth: Troy Hoffman, 200-meter dash; Connor Phu, pole vault, Zach Steffen, 3200-meter run and Weigel, 400-meter dash. High jumper Dan Berg tied for sixth place.

"We had 29 individuals and two relay teams reach their personal bests," Helmstetter said. "We are improving which is what we are pushing for our boys to do each and every day."

Next Tuesday the Tigers venture to Eagan for the annual Wildcat Invitational.
