Softball: Tigers rout Wingers in five

Taylor Haakana 3-4, 3 RBI, 1 run

Farmington rapped 18 base hits and benefited from five Red Wing errors in a 19-2 home-field Missota Conference win over Red Wing Wednesday afternoon.

It was Youth Softball Night at Tiger Field and coach Paul Harrington said everything fell into place for his team.

"We had a lot of hits and with their errors and passed balls we scored a lot of runs," he said. "It was nice to have so many future Tigers on hand to see it."

The Tigers scored four runs in the first inning and then plated 11 runs on eight hits in an 11-run third to build an insurmountable lead. The game was halted after five innings.

Taylor Haakana and Toni Hunsinger led the offensive   parade with three hits apiece. Haakana drove in three runs and Hunsinger scored twice.

Toni Hunsinger 3-4, 2 runs, RBI
Aleah Williamson, Amber Doyle, Brooke Searles and Rachel Brietich had two hits apiece for Farmington. Williams and Doyle each scored three runs.

The win was the second straight for the Tigers who raised their season record to 7-1; 6-1 in Missota Conference play.

The girls close out their busy four-game week with a conference game Friday at Shakopee. The Tigers edged the Sabers 3-2 when the teams met earlier in the season.
