Farmington scored two runs in its first at-bat but Shakopee responded with five scores in the home half of the inning on the way to a 6-3 Missota Conference win Friday afternoon in Shakopee.

"We took the momentum with the two runs in the first," Tiger coach Paul Harrington said, "but they took it right way from us and we never got it back."

The loss left the Tigers and Sabers tied for second place in the conference standings with 6-2 records. Chanhassen leads the league with a 7-1 mark.

"We both play Chanhassen again, so there is a lot yet to be determined," Harrington said.

Toni Hunsinger doubled to start the two-run first, moved to third on an error and scored on a base hit by Amber Doyle. Aleah Williamson's single scored pinch-runner Molly Berdan for the second run.

The Tigers plated their other run in the third inning on a two-out single by Brooke Searles and Hunsinger's second double of the afternoon.

Hunsinger finished the game with three hits, a run batted in and a run scored. Doyle rapped a pair of hits and knocked in a run.

Junior righthander Ashley Betzold allowed nine hits in losing for just the second time this season.

"We battled at the plate and got on by walks, hits and errors," Harrington said, "but we didn't get the big hit when we needed it. We need to get our timely hitting back."

The first chance to do that comes Tuesday at Holy Angels. Thursday the Tigers travel to Northfield for another conference tilt.
