Farmington bounced back from a 4-0 loss at Rochester Mayo Saturday to defeat Red Wing 3-1 Tuesday night at Tiger Stadium.

The victory kept the Tigers unbeaten in Missota Conference play (2-0-1) and raised their season mark to 6-4-1.

"Tonight was a must-win situation if we wanted to keep our chances for a conference championship alive," Tiger coach Julian Buss said. "The boys have been playing well and I am impressed at how they are working together as a team....

"We played a good game tonight with lots of movement and plenty of passing and coommunication. Red Wing only had four shots for the entire game."

Despite Farmington's dominant time of possession it didn't get on the scoreboard until 15:47 remained in the opening half. Urive Omana, who has scored two critical goals in the past three games, did the honor on a spinning move and kick from over the keeper's head from 25 yards. Blake Smith provided the assist on the score.

Tyler Petter-McCauley (from Jared Wolt) notched the second Tiger goal at the 19:59 mark of the second period and 83 seconds later Smith scored from Jake Bauman to seal the deal.

The Wingers scored their lone goal with 15:32 to play in regulation.

Sam Peterson was back in goal for the first 70 minutes and earned the victory. Issac Toenjes patrolled the nets for the final 10 minutes.

Buss said the entire team played well but two individuals, Smith and Omana, stood out.

"If you were to chart where his possession of the ball you would notice that Blake literally plays the entire field," he said  "I would estimate that in an average 80-minute game he runs at least five miles, helping our offense and making it back to the other side of the field to help the defense as well.

"Urive really has a knack for finding opportunities to take quality shots, and his shots have been a delight to watch as they are completely out of reach of the goalie."

Thursday the Tigers put their conference unbeaten streak on the line with a road contest at New Prague.
