The defense carried the day in Farmington's 1-0 Missota Conference victory Thursday afternoon in New Prague It had to.

The Tiger offense fired off 38 shots in the contest but only one found the mark and it had a little help.

Hannah Miller's free kick bounced off a Trojan defender in the box with a minute to play in regulation to provide the difference.

"Our finishing is very sketchy right now," coach Rob Carpentier said. " It isn't the lack of finishing, but rather the lack of movement in the box.

"It is almost as if the girls suddenly get 'tight' when the game counts because we're not seeing this in practice."

Keeper Ashley Becker and the Tiger defense continued to put up a stone wall. The shutout was the seventh of the season for Farmington (8-2-2). The opposition has now failed to register a goal in the last four games.

"We are very, very difficult to even get shots on let alone score on,"  Carpentier said "but we have to finish to win games."

The Tigers will be looking to find their finishing touch Tuesday when they host Chaska in a non-conference game at Tiger Stadium.
