Boys Soccer: Early goals costly in 3-0 loss

A talented Burnsville (4-1) team scored twice in the first 10 minutes on the way to a 3-0 victory over the Tigers Saturday afternoon in Burnsville.

Burnsville notched its first score after a Farmington defensive breakdown and then four minutes later made it 2-0 on a breakaway.

Farmington made it a game the rest of the way with the Blaze adding their final goal with nine minutes remaining in the contest.

"I think there was some frustraion of allowing two fluke goals early in the game," Farmington coach Julian Buss said, "but I am very proud of the boys and the way they battled back the final 70 minutes."

Senior Isaac Toenjes drew the star in net for the Tigers and finished with 11 saves.

Buss said despite the outcome he was generally pleased with his team's performance.

" All 15 boys who played today played an inspired and tough game," he said. "They knew the job they had to do and played to the limits of their abilities."

Farmington (3-3-1) will try to get back to its winning ways Tuesday when they entertain Faribault when they host Faribault in a non-conference game at Tiger Stadium. Thursday they resume Missota Conference play at Northfield.
