The defeat leaves Farmington with an overall season mark of 8-5-1.
"We would have liked to have won this one to lock-in home field advantage for the first game of the playoffs," Tiger coach Julian Buss said. " We did our best but unfortunately we could not control the ball as well as we had hoped.
"In general, we spent too much time working on obtaining possession, only to give the ball back before a scoring opportunity developed."
Buss said he was again impressed by the work of the defensive corps of Hunter Meyers, Robin DeCatsro, Jeffery Hanson and Eric Stoeckman that did a solid job of containing Owatonna's three-forward attack.
Keeper Sam Peterson had a another good outing, finishing the contest with 18 saves.
The Tigers now begin preparations for next Tuesday's big Missota Conference match with unbeaten Holy Angels at Tiger Stadium. The Stars are a perfect 4-0 in conference play with Farmington right behind at 4-0-1.
