Farmington battled back from a 2-1 deficit to grind out an exciting 3-2 win over Section 1AAA rival Rochester Century Tuesday night at Tiger Gym.

The Tigers won the contest by scores of 25-19, 18-25, 18-25,, 25-22 and 15-10.

The victory upped coach Mike Woody's team's season record to 9-7. The Tigers won just seven matches all of last season.

"We played great in game one, then hit wall in games two and three," Woody said. "The next two games were competitive and both teams played well. We took over about half way through the fourth game and then beat them in the short game to win the match.

Woody said that his team again had to play through injuries with middle-hitter Kelsey Lindell battling a hernia condition and jack-of-all-trades Emma Fahning playing with a wrist injury.

"Kelsey got through it but it might cost her a match or two," Woody said. "Emma should be good to go on Thursday."

Once again, Fahning lit up the stat sheet with 12 kills, 23 digs, 15 serve receptions and a pair of service aces. Mackenzie Hesse and Mia Johnston also had two aces apiece for the winners.

Kaylene Seurer had a big night at the net, totaling 16 blocks, including 14 solos. Ruthie Schmitt chalked up 19 set assists and seven kills and Mia Johnston chipped in with 11 assists. Rachel Eckert recorded 35 serve receptions and 10 digs and Hesse hit double digits in receptions with 10.

Farmington swings back into Missota Conference play Thursday with a road match at New Prague.
