Center Wade Fischer and tight end Jimmy Deegan are two of the big reasons that William Penn University, located in Oskaloosa, Iowa, is unbeaten (6-0), ranked 15th in the most recent NAIA poll and leads all schools in their division in rushing offense.
After last week's 52-31 shootout win over Iowa Wesleyan the Statesmen are averaging a robust 416 yards a game on the ground while scoring 46.5 points per game. Fischer has started every game for William Penn since arriving in the fall of 2007. Deegan has also caught a couple of passes for 32 yards this season.
Former Tiger Jessye Stock who helped the Tigers to a couple of girls hockey state tournament appearances and later graduated from the University of St. Catherine is a nurse at Fairview-Southdale Hospital in Edina...Another former Tiger, Kjerstin Moody, is teaching Scandinavian Studies at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter.
Ex-Tiger runner Jill Jolley is a client manager for Blue Cross-Blue Shield in Eagan. Her younger brother, former Tiger athlete Jeff Jolley, recently earned a PhD in biological science and is employed by US Fish and Wildlife in Vancouver, Washington.
1987 Tiger grad Larry Murray who went on to play football at Virginia Military Institute (VVMI), has made a career out of the US Army and is currently a Lieutenant Colonel in charge of a basic training unit at Ft, Jackson, South Carolina.
1989 male Athlete of the Year Matt Walter's Annandale football team is 3-3 after a 47-7 win over Mound-Westonka last week...Al Erickson, son of former Tiger boys basketball coach Randy Erickson and ex-Tiger athlete Jill Horstman, is a defensive back for the Lakeville North football team this fall.
