Devyn Alberts
The awards just keep coming for Tiger girls soccer standout Devyn Alberts.
For openers, the midfielder, who totaled 10 goals and 10 assists during her senior season while helping Farmington to its best-ever finish in the Missota Conference, won the team's most valuable player award.
Soon after, she won repeat all-Missota Conference honors and the conference Player of the Year award for the second straight season.
This week Alberts added two more lines to her already impressive resume' by landing berths on the coaches association all-state team and the Minneapolis StarTribune's all-metro squad. No other Farmington soccer player has ever received either recognition.
"A dynamic player like Devyn comes along about once a decade," Tiger coach Rob Carpentier said. "She is a heady player who consistently works hard and offers no excuses for the way she or her team plays when things don't go according to plan.
"Devyn's steady effort and attitude make her an ideal leader by example."
Alberts has accepted a scholarship to play for the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay next fall and her high school coach said the NCAA Division I school is fortunate to have her in the fold.
"I wouldn't be surprised if she starts for them from day one and is team captain as a sophomore," Carpentier said.
