Farmignton scored first but the lead was short-lived in a 9-4 loss to Lakeville North Thursday night in Lakeville.
The Panthers scored five unanswered goals in the first period and led at intermission 6-1.
The loss evened the Tigers' early season record at 1-1.
"We ran into a defensive-minded, ball control team," coach Paul Sorensen said. "They controlled possession 75 percent of the game.
"We were slow to our own slides defensively and didn't capitalize when we had our chances. It was a stiff test and we just weren't up to the challenge tonight...We will learn from this and move forward."
Farmington netted three of its four goals in a fourth period that saw each team score three times.
Matt Ackerman ran his two-game goal total to six with a pair of scores. Brendon Berg and Mitch Collier also scored for the Tigers. Trevor Howard and Jake Bauman each added assists.
"This was a tough loss because I felt we matched up pretty well and our talent level was definitely there," Sorensen said. "But overall, I'm proud of the effort displayed by everyone."
The Tigers return to action next Thursday, Apr. 19, when they travel to Missota Conference rival Chanhassen/Chaska.
