Brianna Swenson
Low Farmington scorer ar Faribault
The young and inexperienced Tigers got a lesson in varsity golf competition last Saturday at the Faribault Invitational played at the Legacy Golf Club.
With just one letterwinner from last year's team in the lineup, Farmington trailed the 12-team field.
Missota Conference power New Prague grabbed the team title with 331 strokes. St.
Croix Lutheran placed second at 338, followed by Prior Lake 340, Providence Academy 354, Owatonna 357, Chanhassen 362, Benilde-St. Margaret's 395, Totino Grace 437, Lakeville South 437, Kasson-Mantorville 448, Faribault 454 and Farmington 545.
Brianna Swenson shot the low Farmington round, finishing at 110. Amanda Steinkeoway carded 140, Halea Wright 147, Kaitlin Jokinen 148 and Jessica Singewald 156.
"This meet was a learning opportunity," coach Jon Stock said. "Our team is made up of many new players and for many it was their first meet.
"These girls are committed and have already shown improvement. They are all looking forward to their next chance to compete."
That opportunity comes Monday, Apr. 23, when the Tigers host the first Missota Conference meet of the season at Fountain Valley Golf Course.
