An up-and-coming Shakopee team blanked the Tigers 7-0 in a one-sided match played Tuesday at the Boeckman Middle School courts.
The Sabers won all seven matches in straight sets and made an impression on Tiger coach Jack Olwell.
"They are very good," Olwell said. "Red Wing is better but not by much and not for long. Shakopee has a youth movement going on. They have lots and lots of talented middle schoolers in their program."
Tiger eighth-grader Bennett Lagro put up the biggest fight in the losing effort, dropping a 3-6, 2-6 decision at the fourth singles slot.
"With a little more experience, Bennett will be winning this type of match," Olwell said. "He played points well but had too many unforced errors."
The Tigers will play their third match in as many days Wednesday when they travel to Bloomington to take on Bloomington Kennedy.
