Lakeville North rallied from an early 3-1 deficit to defeat the Tigers 16-5 Monday night in Lakeville.
"I didn't have any expectations going into the game," coach Dan Pickens said. "We are still trying to find our identity.
"We started well and forced them to take a time-out and adjust six minutes into the game. Unfortunately, they kept ball control the rest of the half and took advantage of our defense. We weren’t able to keep up with all of their cutters and girls were getting open."
North forged a 10-3 lead by halftime and then built on it throughout the second half.
"The effort wasn’t disappointing, just the result," Pickens said.
Shelby Klotz led the Farmington offensive attack with a pair of goals. Adrienne Jolicoeur, Haley Bradshaw and Betsy Anderson also found the net in the season opener. Bradshaw, Ally Midboe and Haley Doll each added assists.
Goalkeeper Maddie Kohlbeck had a busy night, finishing with a dozen saves in her first start since suffering a season-ending knee injury early last season.
Next up for the Tigers is their home opener with Lakeville South next Monday, Apr. 16 at Tiger Stadium.
"We now have a good week of practices to get going in a direction we would like to go," Pickens said.
