Eastview scored in a second sudden death overtime to edge the Tigers 8-7 in an exciting game played Tuesday night in Apple Valley.
The loss came less than 24 hours after Farmington defeated Lakeville South in another hotly-contested game but according to coach Dan Pickens the back-to-back situation didn't slow down his team.
"The girls had the stamina all the way through the second overtime period," he said. "They worked hard, played well and should be proud of themselves."
The score was knotted 4-4 at the halftime break and the game was still tied at 6-6 with 50 seconds to play thanks to Haley Bradshaw's third goal of the night.
Rachel Welzin made it 7-6 for the visitors with her second score of the game 20 seconds later but Eastview managed to tie the count with just 6.6 seconds left to force overtime.
Ally Midboe and Michaela Tonsager also scored for the Tigers. Tonsager's goal was her first as a varsity player.
"We certainly ran into a good goalie," Pickens said. "She is just a junior and has already committed to a Division I school on the east coast."
Pickens added that Tiger netminder Maddie Kohlbeck also had a big night in the losing effort.
"Their goalie was the real deal but Maddie matched her shot for shot," he said.
The Lightning outshot the Tigers 19-18 for the game.
"The girls played great," Pickens concluded. "We just didn't get the bounces in overtime."
Frdiay night the Tigers (1-2) will be looking to even their season record when they entertain Rosemount in a Youth Night game.
