Jeff Zakoski (below) and Tyler Olson won 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles
Farmington dominated in every flight in a 7-0 shutout victory over Faribault Monday afternoon at the Boeckman Middle School courts.
The convincing win was the first of the year for the Tigers who upped their record to 1-3 heading into Missota Conference play this week.
"It was a miserable day but we played decent tennis," Tiger coach Jack Olwell said. "We played well and really did not lose focus in any match for very long. We had a couple of hiccups at first doubles but they finished strong to win in three sets."
Blake Olmscheid, Ben Cline, Ivan Rodriguez and Bennett Lagro won their singles matches with Rodriguez and Lagro each running their individual records to 3-1.
In doubles play, the first tandem of Tyler Olson and Jeff Zakoski won 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 in the tightest match of the day.
"They had their strongest net play of the season," Olwell said.
The No. 2 and No. 3 duos of Austin Tremmel/Trent Kortenbusch and Austin Rau/Jon Zakoski each won in straight sets.
The Tigers are hoping the win builds a little momentum as they kick off their conference campaign Tuesday afternoon at Red Wing.
