Joel Klinkhammer, the grandson of retired Farmington teacher and middle school coach Dick Klinkhammer, has compiled a 6-1 record with a 2.07 earned run average for the Panthers who are the No. 3 seed in the Section 3AAA.

1994 FHS female Athlete of the Year Amber Hegland has her Wayzata softball team ranked as the top seed for the Section 6AAA tournament. Wayzata owns an 11-9 record and finished third in the always-tough Lake Conference. The Trojans finished runner-up to Hopkins in last year's section tournament.
Former Tiger Ryan Pietsch moved up to the varsity softball coaching position at Northfield this spring after serving as ninth grade coach the previous several seasons. The Raiders finished 12-10 overall and 8-6 in the Missota Conference, good enough for fourth place in the final standings.

Former Tiger state meet golfer Greg Werner who helped his Minnesota State, Mankato team win the 2012 NSIC team championship earlier this spring, was the second lowest Maverick scorer at the NCAA Division II West/Central Regional played in Litchfield Park, Arizona.
Tiger grad Jim Cordes, an inaugural member of the Farmington Athletic Hall of Fame, died at the age of 62 last week. Cordes, the 1968 FHS Athlete of the Year who later play hockey at Notre Dame, was the first Tiger to compete in in that sport at the NCAA Division level.
