Missota Conference champion Red Wing (13-1) lived up to its billing with a 10-0 shutout win over Farmington (4-10) Thursday afternoon at Tiger Field.

The hard-hitting Wingers pounded 10 hits against four Tiger pitchers and also took advantage of three Farmington errors in the conference finale for both teams.

"Pitching, Pitching, untimely errors, pitching," coach Mike Winters said. "That's the difference between our ugly and our good games."

Red Wing built a 5-0 lead through five innings and then sent everyone home early with a five-run sixth. The contest was halted after six innings by the 10-run rule.

Jonathan Ellis started on the hill for the Tigers but lasted only an inning. Andy Morris, Jordan DeCrook and Andrew Sharratt followed but only Morris had much in the way of success. He threw 2.3 innings of relief, giving up one run.

Offensively, the Tigers were limited to just three singles, one each by Jake Baskerville, Spencer Merle and Jordan Lugowski.

Farmington closes its regular season Monday when it entertains Lakeville South at Tiger Field. Section 1AA play begins later in the week.
