Farmington finished in the middle of the pack at the 12-team Shakopee Invitational played Monday afternoon at Stonebrooke Golf Club. The Tigers ranked seventh in the strong field with a team total (low four scores) of 333.
Bloomington Jefferson won the team title with 303 strokes, a shot better than runner-up Eden Prairie. Chaska placed third at 309, followed by Shakopee Red 313, Faribault 315, Chanhassen 322, Farmington 333, Shakopee Black 338, Mankato West 350, Mankato East 352, Richfield 367 and Bloomington Kennedy 350.
Tommy May, Ryan Kelly and Erik Holmstrom finished tied fir 14th place overall to finish atop the Farmington leader board. Each shot rounds of 82. Mitch Reed was five shots back at 87. Tony Lalani carded 89 and Jake Hanson 93.
"We struggled a bit finding a rhythm," coach Jon Holmes said. "It seemed the theme of the day was to string a bunch of good holes together and then follow it up with three bad ones.
"We need to find a way to bounce back from a bad hole and not allow it to carry over into the next one."
The Tigers were to get back on the course Tuesday at the third Missota Conference meet of the season slated for River Oaks Golf Club in Cottage Grove. Farmington finished sixth and fifth respectively in the first two league tournaments
