Game. Set. Match. Season.

Blake Olmscheid was the only Tiger to win his opening round match at the Section 1AA sub-section tournament played Thursday afternoon in Rochester.

Ben Cline lost his opening round singles match and the doubles teams of Jeff Zaksoki/Tyler Olson and Ivan Rodriguez/Bennett Lagro were eliminated in the first round of the highly competitive tourney.

Olmscheid scored a dominant 6-2, 6-2 win over Owatonna's No. 2 player in opening round play before dropping a tough 3-6, 6-4, 1-6 decision to Lakeville North's No. 1 player in the second.

"Blake played very well in the second set and was poised to take the match," coach Jack Olwell said, "but the Lakeville player came to life and elevated his game."

Cline lost 1-6, 3-6 to the No. 1 player from Austin while both of the doubles teams dropped their matches in straight sets.

Olson sprained an ankle in warm-ups but soldiered on in a 1-6, 1-6 defeat and Rodriguez/Lagro fell 0-6, 1-6.
