Tommy May All-Missota Conference |
That showing left Farmington in fifth place for the conference season in what was a tight race for places three through six.
"We had an off day," Tiger coach Jon Holmes said. "We still finished fifth but it was not what we were hoping for. Up until the last two holes we were in position to grab third or fourth, but a couple of our guys got into some trouble that was too much to overcome.
All in all, it was a good conference run though. We showed improvement with every match and we proved we had the ability to compete with the top teams."
Tommy May had another quality outing for the Tigers with a round of 75. His steady play throughout the conference season earned him a spot on the all-Missota team.
"Tommy will be taking some well-earned confidence into next week's section meet," Holmes said.
Mitch Reed shot 82, Ryan Kelly 83, Erik Holmstrom 88, Jake Hanson 89 and Tony Lalani 90 for the Tigers. Holmstrom, who had played steady golf through the first four league meets missed all-conference honorable mention by half a point.
Wednesday the Tigers travel to Emerald Greens in Hastings to tee it up against Rosemount as well as tune up for next week's Section 1AAA Championships at Bellwood Oaks Golf Course.
