Rochester Mayo defeated Big Nine Conference rival Owatonna 902.5-844.5 to win the section berth in next week's True Team state meet in Stillwater.
Lakeville South placed third at 816.5, followed by Rochester Century 687, Lakeville North 631, Farmington 584, New Prague 573.5, Northfield 552.5 and Rochester John Marshall 386.5.
Farmington placed individuals among the top 10 in 11 events and ranked among the top five in all four relays.
"I think we should have gotten fourth overall if we could have came through in a few events," coach Brian Helmstetter said. " Some low finishes hurt us but most events had personal records.
"We had 26 personal records overall, so it is hard to say we underachieved, but a few miscues and some weak events kept us from scoring some big points."
Two of the Tiger relay foursomes scored third place points: the 4x200 team of Ryan Parco, Tommy Weigel, Jack Erickson and Sam Hoffman and the 4x400 quartet of Tyler Lerbakken, Chad Retterath, Tanner Grubb and Weigel.

Two other Farmington relay teams scored fifth place finishes: the 4x100 grouping of Derek Klotter, Ather Ashton, Alex Chadwick and Mason Auge and the 4x800 contingent of Retterath, Luis Rodriguez, Eric Stoeckman, and Lerbakken.

Next Thursday (May 17) the Tigers tune up for the May 24 Missota Conference Championships with an invitational meet at Carleton College in Northfield.
