"We had three very close matches in which we led but couldn't close out," Tiger coach Jack Olwell said. "First, second and fourth singles all had some great chances."
Blake Olmscheid lost at the No. 1 spot 3-6, 4-6 despite leading in both sets.
"Blake determined the way the match was played and played at a fairly high level for most of it," Olwell said.
Ben Cline won a tough 7-5 opening set before losing the second 1-6 and the tie-breaker 6-10.
"Ben was in the driver's seat for all of the first set and the first part of the second," Olwell said. "He almost always has a strong second set but this one got away from him."
Olwell said that Bennett Lagro also looked sharp in his 2-6, 4-6 loss at fourth singles.
"Bennett was impressive for most of the match," he said.
The doubles lineup had a tough day of it, winning just four of 36 games.
Next week the Tigers will send two singles players and two doubles team to the Section 1AA individual tournament.
