Chanhassen scored the game-winning goal with 2:10 remaining in the second five-minute overtime period to edge the Tigers 3-2 Tuesday, Sept. 21, in Chanhassen.
The loss dropped Farmington's season record to 4-5 and left the Tigers 1-1 in Missota Conference play.
"Chanhassen has a good team" Farmington coach Julian Buss said. "They were able to limit our scoring opportunities and they had a lot of chances themselves."
The Storm piled up 24 shots on net over the 90 minutes with Tiger goalie Chad Stivers registering a season-high 21 saves.
"Chad had an outstanding game," Buss said. "He has certainly established himself as an elite goalkeeper. He was definitely our player of the game."
The Storm scored first but Tiger sophomore Reid Wolf sent the teams to intermission tied at 1-1 when he knocked in a loose ball in front of the Chanhassen goal with 10:15 to play.
Justin Thelen gave his team its only lead of the contest eight minutes into the second half and it held up until Chanhassen sent the game into overtime with a score with just 90 seconds to play in regulation.
"This was our toughest loss of the season," Buss said. "We were so close to walking away with a win."
