A day after a dramatic 4-3 win over Henry Sibley the Tigers played dominant soccer but couldn't put the ball in the net in a 1-0 loss to Missota Conference rival Holy Angels, Sept. 28, at Tiger Stadium.
Farmington kept the ball in the Stars end of the field most of the game and outshot the visitors by a decisive 20-4 but couldn't dent the scoreboard.
The win snapped the Tigers three-game winning streak and left them with a 7-5 season record; 2-1 in the Missota Conference.
The Stars scored the game's only goal on a penalty kick early in the first half.
"We played great but didn't get the result we wanted," coach Rob Carpentier said. "Now the girls have their backs to the wall as far as winning the conference title goes. It was tough to play so well and still lose."
The girls get a chance for redemption Thursday night at Northfield when they take on the Raiders who are a half game behind Holy Angels (4-0) in the conference standings with 3-0 record.
"For the most part we still control our own destiny," Carpentier said, "but we have to run the table from here on out."
