Burnsville dominated singles play and rolled to a 7-0 win over the Tigers Wednesday, Sept. 1, in Burnsville. The Blaze won the four singles matches by a lopsided 48-2 count.
Farmington played more competitively at the three doubles positions but still suffered its second consecutive shutout loss.
"We kind of lost our mojo in this match," Tiger coach Jack Olwell said. "Burnsville was the better team but I thought only a little better. We played hard but it was not our best performance. I'd like to have another shot at playing them."
The strongest Tiger effort came from the No. 1 doubles team of Danielle Froehling and Lucy Gentilini. The newly formed tandem lost 6-4, 4-6 (10).
"Danielle matched their firepower and Lucy kept them off balance with some nice lobs," Olwell said. "It was a marvelous effort especially considering they had never played together."
