It was a long week for the Tigers who dropped back-to-back 3-0 decisions to Rochester Century and defending state champion Shakopee.
Tuesday night, Sept. 21, at Tiger Gym the Panthers eked out a 25-22 win in the first game before rolling in games two and three, 25-16, 25-17.
Two nights later in Shakopee the Tigers played well in the first two games, losing 25-21 and 25-22 before suffering a crushing 25-8 defeat in the finale.
"Other than Katie Habeck and Jordan Bridges we didn't play very well," coach Mike Woody said of the Century loss. "Our serve receive was horrible and we gave them free balls all night long. Shakopee lost a lot from last year's team but they still know how to compete. The first two games were great for us. The third was a bad game all-around."
Habeck had 16 serve receptions, 15 digs, 13 kills and three blocks to lead the effort against Century.
Haylee Lundquist totaled 16 set assists and 10 digs. Brook King hit double figures in serve receptions with 11 and Bridges led in blocks with four. Mia Johnston had a team-high three service aces.
Habeck recorded 13 of the team's 26 kills against the Sabers and added 12 service points, 11 serve receptions and seven digs.
Bridges chipped in with six kills and six blocks. King had 13 digs and also served for 11 points. Johnston and Lundquist distributed the ball well, finishing with 12 and 11 set assists respectively.
The losses dropped the Tigers season record to 5-8; 1-2 in Missota Conference play.
