Farmington won one of four matches and finished eighth in a 16-team field at the Farmington Invitational held Saturday, Sept. 18 at Tiger Gym.
Lakeville South defeated Jordan 25-18 and 25-16 to win the tourney championship.
The Tigers started the day-long event on the right foot with a 2-1 win over White Bear Lake before losing consecutive decisions to Jordan (2-0); Delano (2-1) and Osseo (2-0).
"I was definitely pleased with our progress in the tournament," Farmington coach Mike Woody said, "not to mention holding our own against Osseo in the fourth match without Katie Habeck. We learned how to compete and be in every game. Now we need to learn how to win."
Habeck, the Tigers best all-around player, sat out the tournament finale due to a nagging back injury.
Habeck and fellow hitter Jordan Bridges each landed a spot on the all-tournament squad.
Farmington (5-6) returns to action, Tuesday, Sept. 21, with a match against Section 1 rival Rochester Century at Tiger Gym.
